In my practice, I work with my clients to reach their specific goals. All of my clients have different needs and therefore require a unique approach. I begin this with our very first contact. Whether your dealing with depression, anxiety, having a difficult time with your child or teen, or are not even sure what is going on for you but know you want help. I will help create your own path to success.
Utilizing an eclectic variety of evidenced based modalities, we will build our therapeutic relationship. These modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP).
My clients' initially often find relief when they feel my efforts to truly understand and validate their present circumstances and emotional experience. My goal is to validate you and identify your therapy goals with you. You won't hear me give the typical friends and family responses such as "You have so much to be happy about," or "you don't need to worry about that." It is difficult for people to comprehend anxiety or depression, even when they are trying their best. However this leaves those suffereing feeling isolated and misunderstood. I will help you understand how these are illnesses and how treatment can help.
OCD is often misunderstood, unrecognized, and underdiagnosed, making it a particularly challenging illness. However, the good news is that Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), the gold standard for OCD treatment, is highly effective. This treatment focuses on understanding how OCD functions and how ERP can stop the cycle that reinforces it. Since each individual experiences OCD differently, we will work together to create a personalized treatment plan for your unique experience.
I am EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trained through EMDRIA. EMDR is a treatment approach designed to address distressing memories and reduce their impact on daily life. It has also been proven effective for various other conditions. Regardless of whether active reprocessing becomes part of your treatment plan, the framework of this approach has been integrated into my practice. Whether we are processing a traumatic experience, treating symptoms of depression or anxiety, or exploring current patterns of relating and behaviors, we will work together to understand how these patterns developed, made sense at the time, and are no longer serving you effectively.
Being a parent is undoubtedly the most challenging job ever! Sometimes, parents need support. There are a wide range of emotions and struggles while raising children, including anxiety and a sense of inadequacy. A common challenge I see moms and dads face is how they can be sure to avoid the mistakes of their own parents. Another common experience is how navigate the intricate family dynamics when one or more children have special needs. It’s not uncommon for parents to have differing opinions on interventions and typical parenting decisions. Additionally, balancing the needs of siblings are examples of complexities they face.
My goal is to be there for you. We will explore your emotions, your needs, and your goals. Then we will work together and create a path to achieve those goals.
